The Book Wagon & Tandem Bay Area
The Motivation Center (TMC), in collaboration with The Book Wagon and Tandem Bay Area, successfully organized a book drive in Fremont from March 1st to March 31st. The primary goal of the drive was to support underprivileged students in developing their literacy skills and contribute to local non-profit organizations. Throughout the month, TMC team members, local institutions, teachers, and students worked together to raise awareness about the book drive and collect books. Their collective efforts resulted in an impressive outcome, with over 200 books and more than $100 being collected.
By hosting this book drive, TMC was able to make a difference in access to educational resources, something that was a long term goal when this organization was founded. On April 15, 2023, the co-founders of TMC, Falak and Mruthika, joined The Book Wagon at Mission Science Workshop in San Francisco, California in a book giveaway event. This was an amazing opportunity to contextualize the direct impact of our book donations.
At the event, the co-founders of TMC had the opportunity to speak with Suzanne Korey, the Director of the Book wagon, and many volunteers at the non profit. It was extremely inspiring to learn about their journey building the organization and listen to their stories about how books have impacted their lives. Their dedication to spreading literacy in the San Francisco District was evident, and their stories served as powerful motivators for their work.
“We received three boxes of the best books from the Motivation Center. They gathered the kinds of books that we love to share with elementary school children when we bring the Book Wagon over.” – Suzanne Korey
Moreover, we want to show our appreciation for everyone that made this book drive possible. Thank you to the Book Wagon and Tandem BayArea for giving us a way to distribute our donations to those in need, our donors, especially students at Mission San Jose High School, for helping us spread literacy and bring joy to families, and any volunteers and other supporters who dedicated their time and energy promoting our book drive and collecting books.
